Finch Turf is the authorized John Deere Golf Course & Sports Turf Distributor serving the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Our sales, parts, service, and administrative teams go above and beyond to provide an outstanding experience for our customers.
Our history runs deep with John Deere, dating back to the early to mid-1900s when Ray F. Finch of Syracuse, New York was Vice President of the John Deere Plow Company. In 1945, Ray F. Finch’s son, Alvah, and his wife, Catherine O’Brien Finch, established the first Finch John Deere Dealership in the Grange Hall in Medford, Maryland. Under the direction of Bill Finch, Sr. (Alvah and Catherine’s son), the Finch companies were blessed with growth and expansion over many decades. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Bill’s sons Brad, Dann, and Ray joined the business. Under the leadership of Ray P. Finch, (CEO/President and Penn State University graduate), the company expanded into the Golf Course & Specialized Turf Maintenance business when John Deere first introduced their new line of equipment in 1987
The Finch companies began promoting sales to golf courses, commercial, institutional, and government agencies in the expanding JD Golf territory of the Mid-Atlantic region. In 2013, Finch Services earned the title of North American John Deere Golf Distributor of The Year. In 2016 as opportunities developed, the geographic footprint of the Finch Golf business expanded when Ray purchased the John Deere Golf territory to the north and added upstate New York to the Finch John Deere Golf territory. In 2017, Finch Services was once again recognized as the North American John Deere Golf Distributor of the Year and the Golf Course & Sports Turf expansion continued with the acquisition of the downstate New York, Long Island, and New England territories. In 2020, our company celebrated 75 years in business, and in 2021 our name officially changed to Finch Turf Inc.
Our company is one of only four of the original John Deere Golf Distributors established in 1987. We have grown into the number one North American cool-season golf distributor for John Deere and are proud of this accomplishment. We have been blessed with a dynamic group of managers and talented coworkers that make the future bright. Ultimately, we give all credit and glory to Him who makes all things possible.
